If you are looking for Slime Tail Slimes in Slime Rancher 2 without much luck, then stop, because it is likely that you are skipping some very important step in the progress of the adventure.

To find these cute little creatures, you first need to mine the Fat Pink Slime to the west of the Conservatory (quite easy, since it feeds on fruits, vegetables, and meat). Once you complete this action, you will unlock access to a teleporter that will take you to a new location: the Valley of Embers.

Valley of Embers, home to valuable resources and mysterious Slimes

The Valley of Embers is one of the most important locations for your early progression in Slime Rancher 2. First and foremost, you'll find a lot of essential resources to use at the Fabricator, like the Radiant Ore (which you use to build the Jetpack). And, of course, it is also an area where you will find several Slimes Colianillados. Of course, there is something you have to keep in mind to catch them.

Ringtail Slimes are small brown creatures with a long "ringed" tail. They have the characteristic of moving very quickly and stealthily at night to cause a ruckus: they are highly disruptive and always try to steal objects that you have neglected. 

However, when the sun rises, the light turns them to stone and thus they are immobilized: a perfect opportunity to catch them and take them to a "dark" area to see them in their normal form. You can also find them bouncing off caves or shady locations, out of the daytime sun.
